They are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design and Technology (DT) Technician to join their dedicated team. This is a permanent, full-time vacancy to start in September 2025.
We are looking for a proactive and reliable DT Technician to provide technical support to our Design and Technology department. The successful candidate will assist teaching staff with the preparation of materials, the maintenance of equipment, and ensuring the smooth running of practical lessons. You will play a vital role in supporting students' learning and helping them develop their practical and creative skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the preparation of materials and resources for DT lessons, including the safe setup of equipment.
- Support teachers during practical lessons and provide technical assistance to students.
- Maintain and repair equipment and tools, ensuring everything is in safe working condition.
- Organise and manage the storage of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed in the classroom, workshops, and equipment areas.
- Help maintain stock levels and order materials as needed.
- Assist with the organisation of student projects, exhibitions, and assessments.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support the smooth operation of the department.
- Experience in a DT workshop environment, ideally within a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge and experience of using a range of tools, equipment, and materials used in DT subjects (e.g., wood, metal, plastic, and CAD/CAM technologies).
- Strong practical skills and an ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- A good understanding of health and safety regulations related to the use of equipment and materials in DT.
