What You Will Be Doing as a Shift Engineer with Ocado Logistics:

  • Maintaining and Optimising: Conducting planned and reactive maintenance across the site, ensuring everyone’s accuracy and safety. Proactively identifying and implementing improvements to enhance machine reliability and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairing: Diagnosing and resolving any equipment breakdowns efficiently, keeping our automated systems running smoothly and safely.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitoring and analysing data to identify trends and implement solutions that improve our overall MHE performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Aligning engineering activities with operational needs and communicating effectively with colleagues and external contractors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contributing to the development of our planned maintenance system and participating in projects to enhance warehouse and engineering functions.
  • Safety and Standards: Ensuring all maintenance activities are conducted safely and to the highest standards, maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Team Development: Assisting in developing team skills and knowledge sharing.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A strong technical background in automation hardware and software, demonstrated by HNC Engineering or equivalent, a relevant Degree with applied learning, an Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, Manufacturers PLC training, or Electrical and/or mechanical skills (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with Control Systems (desirable).
  • Self-motivation, consistency, and the ability to work at pace.
  • Computer literacy and experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Physical fitness to safely perform engineering maintenance activities.
  • Proficient English language skills for understanding safety information and technical manuals.
  • Experience in an Engineering Service Support role within an automated production environment.
