A long term, inside IR35 opportunity exists for a competent first principles Planner on a major project for a tier one contractor. The fact that you progressed from a site delivery engineering role on civil engineering projects, to effectively producing base line programs using first principles then continuously managing and contributing to the project timeline, is a definite advantage. Experience in the refurbishment and renewal of infrastructure projects is sought. This opportunity better suits Civil Engineers who have had hands on site delivery experience as a Site Engineer/Section Engineer/Sub Agent/Agent prior to their planning experience. As the Planner, you will be responsible for the following: Create the baseline program using first principles as well as your civil engineering practical knowledge and experience in conjunction with the delivery team. Manage the integrated programme and communicate potential issues. Producing periodical updates for submission Resource and cost load programmes in order to establish and maintain internal and external project controls reporting. Introduce and analyse change in programmes in accordance with site activities. Load and tracking resource and costs. Produce and communicate programme information in a variety of formats, using routine and bespoke programme outputs including Power BI Contribute and support numerous operational teams on use of collaborative planning, risk and commercial issues. Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes including the Designer’s programme. Collect and distribute feedback. Assimilate and interpret information from tender documentation. Ensure compliance with the business processes and systems. Undertake analytical assessment of programmes. Core Skills required for this post include – Previous construction delivery experience, preferably for a tier one Contractor, across a wide range of civil engineering projects prior to planning experience. Extensive experience creating a baseline program from first principles using your hands on civil engineering construction experience. A Civil Engineering qualification is preferred. A good understanding of commercial and contractual matters. A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion. Thorough experience and understanding of programming techniques using P6 on NEC contracts. Solid EoT experience and knowledge of Change Management process. A sound knowledge of typical production rates The ability to communicate and report the program effectively. Previous experience on large highly regulated projects like MOD, Nuclear, Network Rail etc advantageous The ability to work to a defined, often challenging, timescales. Develop and maintain effective working relationships on projects and interface with operational teams and suppliers. Support the commercial teams on projects.
