This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a growing mechanical division operating not only in South Wales but across the UK. This position is immediately available for candidates with experience of managing a range of commercial projects from concept design stage to completion and post-handover requirements.
You will be collaboratively working with other members of the team to ensure we build and maintain our already strong working relationships with contractors, clients and colleagues. As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will be overall responsible for ensuring that the given projects are completed in accordance with the specification and drawings, to a high standard, within the allocated time schedule and within budget.
Overview of role:The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project at a commercial level dealing with both the site team and the client. This will include managing projects from estimation to completion whilst ensuring the work is completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. To achieve this you will be required to manage all health and safety aspects for your projects including writing risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of works.
You would be required to manage not only direct operatives but also subcontractors, ensuring the installation of various packages is compliant with the drawings and specifications. You will be responsible for managing the timely procurement of plant and materials within the allocated budgets for the project whilst ensuring all is specification compliant. To ensure compliance you will need to ensure you are familiar with the company’s latest policies and stay up to date with any changes to company procedures.
Throughout the project, you will be responsible for ensuring the installation is done to the highest quality of workmanship using internal QA procedures to record and track the quality process. It is critical that you are able to monitor and report on site progress and support the customer by attending various site meetings. You will be responsible for the commissioning and handover process and work closely with the Quantity Surveyor to track the project financially.
Skills and qualities required:The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic and work effectively leading a team. Excellent communication skills are required as it is vital that you can communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members, sub-contractors and clients. We are looking for a hard-working individual with a high level of IT literacy with experience in Microsoft Office. Impeccable time keeping and organisational skills are a must and require both analytical and problem-solving skills. An overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of mechanical systems and their installation methods is essential.
Experience and requirements:Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Mechanical Building Services Project Manager on large scale new build and refurbishment commercial projects along with HNC/HND/Degree in Building Services. Strong leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team are required. Candidates must have excellent people management skills and be able to motivate others around them. You will need the ability to prioritise, organise and multitask to ensure that timescales are met through effective planning and project management. Candidates must hold a full UK driving license.
Hours:40 hours contract, 8am to 5pm Monday - Thursday and 8am to 4pm Friday. Occasional weekend work or overtime. Not all the projects are in South Wales so you would need to be willing to travel to projects that require overnight stays.
Salary & Package:Salary depending on experience £55k - £60k, potentially more to be confirmed based on qualifications and experience. Company car, mobile phone, holiday, pension and healthcare.
