We are recruiting on behalf of a dynamic and growing accountancy firm for a Trainee Accountant to support their diverse portfolio of clients. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience across a variety of accountancy tasks and client types, working closely with experienced professionals and receiving full study support to develop your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Managers and Directors to provide accounting support across a range of client accounts.
  • Assist with the completion of payrolls and VAT returns, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to HMRC.
  • Support clients with bookkeeping and cloud software, including invoice processing and bank reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of accounts and self-assessment tax returns.
  • Undertake general office administration including filing and database management.
  • Identify opportunities for new business and referrals across the wider firm.
  • Adapt and contribute as required in a fast-growing accountancy team.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience: 1+ years in an accountancy practice.
  • Qualifications: AAT Level 2 or 3 is desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and a methodical approach to your work.
  • Communication: Confident, personable, and professional with clients and colleagues.
  • Mindset: Eager to learn, take feedback, and grow within a supportive team.
