Taylor Root have partnered with a leading city law firm who are looking to hire a Paralegal into their in house pro bono and responsible business team. This role is being offered on a 12 month FTC basis with the option to extend.
The Firm
Considered to be one of the oldest law firms in London, our client has a long standing reputation for serving high-net worth individuals, landed gentry, and charitable institutions. With this firm, you can expect a rich history and tradition, with a growing touch of modernity. They are ranked in Tier 1, 2 & 3 (Legal 500) for almost all of their practice areas.
The Role
Slightly different to your typical Paralegal role, you will be working closely with the Head of Pro Bono and Responsible Business. The role will be split between legal work and administrative duties. It is important to note that a large number of your responsibilities will be akin to a Legal PA, with the legal work predominantly stemming from Responsible Business.
Responsibilities
- Providing general support to the Responsible Business Partner in building the firm’s four Responsible Business strands: Pro Bono; carbon emissions, community engagement and our clients and social value.
- Project management and organisation of Responsible Business and in particular, Pro Bono initiatives, with the supervision of the Head of Pro Bono - Counsel.
- Organising events and training sessions.
- Presenting the work of the Responsible Business team both internally and externally.
- Conducting legal research using a variety of online and reference sources.
- Researching, analysing and interpreting primary and secondary legal sources, professional journals, annual reports etc.
- Assisting in the preparation of bundles.
- Providing support to the team on cases through investigations, due-diligence, drafting, research analysis, and assisting in the preparation of bundles.
- Attending client meetings and assisting members of the team in preparation for such meetings.
- Co-ordinating and managing multiple diaries and appointments.
The Ideal Candidate
This role would be suitable for those who have experience as a Paralegal, Legal Administrator or PA. It is however important that you have an interest/understanding in Responsible Business themes including social justice issues, human rights, environmental sustainability and community impact.
