At Penton Services Group Ltd we are actively looking for a Small Works and Service Engineer to join our Fire and Security division. The Fire Alarm Engineer will mostly be responsible for the small installations, commissioning, service/maintenance and repairs of fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire alarm industry and be able to face any challenges that may arise along the way. Some basic level of security systems knowledge would be an advantage but not a necessity.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have Or Be Able To:
- 2-3 years minimum experience in fire alarm or related field.
- Preferred installation experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check.
- Experience with power and hand tools with knowledge of safety practices.
- Some knowledge of BS5839 standards.
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- FIA Extinguisher trained preferred but not essential.
- BAFE or equivalent qualification preferred but not a necessity (the right candidate will be put through courses and training where required).
- CSCS or ECS card highly preferred but can be put through this course if required.
- Must be able to work as part of a team as well as solo and have good people skills.
Responsibilities:
- To complete and return company documentation and certification to comply with our systems and procedures.
- Dealing with clients in a professional manner where required and ensuring customers are left with a good understanding of the system and works completed.
- Installation, commissioning servicing of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- Carrying out servicing and remedial works to existing life safety systems in accordance with BS5839.
- To be able to perform clean and tidy work.
- Provide advice on fire safety issues where required.
- Reporting on faults and providing system health checks at client’s properties.
- Liaise and co-operate with office administrators to ensure the needs of our customers are met.
- No call-out rota at present.
Salary and Benefits:
- Rates of pay between £30,000 - £48,000 negotiable subject to knowledge, skill set and experience.
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays per year and rising with continued service.
