We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technician to join our thriving secondary school in Southeast London (Southwark borough). This role supports the delivery of Food Technology lessons, ensuring the smooth operation of practical and theoretical sessions while fostering a safe, engaging, and educational environment for students.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare ingredients, equipment, and materials for practical Food Technology lessons.
- Assist teachers during practical sessions, providing guidance and support to students as needed.
- Ensure all equipment and workspaces are clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations in the kitchen and classroom.
- Conduct routine checks of kitchen tools, appliances, and equipment, reporting and resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain hygiene standards by overseeing the proper cleaning and storage of utensils, appliances, and surfaces.
- Manage inventory of ingredients, equipment, and materials, ordering supplies as needed within budget constraints.
- Keep accurate records of stock, lesson plans, and safety checks.
- Support teachers with administrative tasks such as lesson planning and resource preparation.
- Supervise and guide students during practical activities, promoting safe and effective use of equipment.
- Encourage students to develop culinary skills, creativity, and an understanding of nutrition and healthy eating.
- Work closely with Food Technology teachers and the Design & Technology department to support curriculum delivery.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the learning experience for all students.
