The Lifting Appointed Person shall be responsible for all aspects of transportation and lifting operations for components used in the offshore renewable and wider energy sector. The role involves the creation of lifting and rigging plans, including the accompanying calculations and methods. It also includes involvement in the development of new and innovative custom lifting tools, supporting projects during their execution and overseeing the management of owned and new rigging and lifting equipment for use on future projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Creation, documentation and approval of lifting and rigging plans.
- Constructing and implementing safe systems of work and associated documentation, such as method statements and risk assessments.
- Reviewing and selection of suitable rigging equipment and participating in the development of lifting tools.
- Reviewing and/or witnessing factory acceptance tests and/or load tests of lifting and rigging equipment.
- Overseeing and providing instruction and support as necessary on site for lifting operations, ensuring that work is undertaken as safely as possible.
- Providing continuous support to projects during their execution phases as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Extensive and proven lifting and rigging experience (preferably in engineered lifts).
- Preferably hold an Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (CPCS Blue Card) or LOLER/LEEA Competent Person certificate/qualification.
- Have a completed technical education.
- Understanding of offshore lifting.
- Strong IT skills and experience using MS package and industry/sector specific software and systems.
- Willing to travel as required to project locations.
- Excellent organisational, self-management, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond to change, work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Full, current UK driving licence required.
Ideally, candidates should also hold CPCS Lift supervisor and slinger signaller, CPCS (A36) or ALLMI Lorry Loader, CPCS (A66) Spider Crane Operator, CSCS Site Manager (Black Card) certification and C+E driving licence.
