To effectively deliver the main responsibilities within the Senior RSW role, ensuring effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of the children/young people, staff, service and company. To be part of a team offering a comprehensive, high quality residential service to children and young people, ensuring their physical, social and emotional well-being are met and assisting in their positive holistic development and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people.
  • To report immediately any unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Effective personal practice and effective management of a team.
  • Unconditionally support the positive holistic development of the children/young people within the home.
  • To ensure the ongoing assessment of children and young people’s needs in day to day practice.
  • Ensure all staff practice is in line with best practice and the children and young people’s Care and Placement Plans.
  • Continuously and unconditionally promote the structure, boundaries and routines within a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Be responsible for the effective and efficient running of shifts including the planning and appropriate activities.
  • Provide a positive role model for the young people, presenting oneself in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • As required, work with young people on intervention strategies to promote pro-social behaviour.
  • Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities including delivery of direct work.

Skills

  • Previous experience in childcare or working with children is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective interaction with children and families.
  • Ability to follow care plans meticulously while adapting to the needs of each child.
  • Empathetic people person who is non-judgemental and calm.
  • Dedicated and committed with a “can-do” attitude.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with residential care principles is beneficial.
  • Level 3 or 4 in Residential Child Care (Children and Young Peoples Workforce).
  • 12 Months Experience.
  • Ability to work shifts and sleep in the home overnight.
  • Must have valid Right to Work in the UK.
