The Connections Design Team’s vision is to design connections solutions to directly enable our customers and region’s journey to net zero and wider economic growth. This is an exciting opportunity at a time of significant and fascinating change within the energy sector. As a Design Team Manager, you will play an integral role in achieving this. Along with a competitive salary of £66,464 up to £78,192 (depending on experience), we also offer great benefits such as:

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of designers to deliver EHV design solutions for our customers
- Assist designers with judgements for unusual scenarios that ensure decisions are consistent with policy and regulatory requirements
- Work with other business units to develop/implement intelligent solutions for our customers
- Identify improvements to our engineering policy & business processes working closely with all business units
- Be responsible for the implementation of changes to design policy and business processes
- Mentor staff in order to produce well-rounded professional engineers
- Represent Northern Powergrid on industry working groups
- Maintain the well-being of a dispersed team of professional engineers

Qualifications & Attributes
- Level 5 or 6 (HND, degree, or equivalent) in STEM subject, or a level 4 qualification (e.g., HNC) with at least five years of relevant experience
- Ability to manage small teams of professional engineers
- Understanding of power system design and operation
- Knowledge of electrical equipment
