Our Financial Services client is looking for a seasoned Mainframe Systems Programmer with a background in IT Security, initially for a 6-12 month contract, with the option of conversion to a permanent role. This will be based in Melbourne, Victoria likely requiring fulltime presence in the office, however a hybrid arrangement for 2 dpw working from home may be negotiable over time. Likely start date is around mid 2025.

  • At least 5+ years relevant local working experience.

Role Purpose: The successful candidate will be required to provide IBM Mainframe-based security technology-based services incorporating strategy, design, development, delivery and maintenance of technological solutions to meet business needs.

Key competencies & experience:

  • 15+ years relevant business experience (Mainframe)
  • Sound knowledge of Technology Industry
  • Experience in a Security Analyst role (Mainframe - RACF)
  • z / OS Software installation and configuration experience
  • Advanced Assembler experience
  • Advanced - JCL (Job Control Language) coding experience
  • SMP / E and REXX experience
  • RACF Security expertise
  • SAS (Statistical Analysis System) programming expertise
  • ISPF and ISPF Dialogue Management Services
  • SDSF (Spool Display Search Facility) Programming experience in one or more programming disciplines (including: Python, PL1 and Cobol)
  • Experience with one or more of the following - Storage Management (DASD and Tape), DB2, Performance Monitoring.

Key non-technical capabilities:

  • Tertiary qualification in a Technology discipline or related field
  • Knowledge of Banking Industry
  • Ability to build effective relationships and enable the successful implementation of technical strategies
  • Use technical expertise and judgement to define and implement technical solutions to support business needs
  • Provide services to support, guide and assure design of solutions in line with agreed strategies and directions
  • Confer with systems users to develop areas of change in requirements that result in greater efficiency, systems integration or cost reduction
  • Support specific project goals by providing expertise and technical assurance for key system components to support costing efforts and to ensure the integrity of design
  • Develop technical evaluations of products, tools, techniques and methods to meet business needs
  • Provide technical input to design specifications of major computer systems and provide consultative guidance on their execution
  • Develop/create technical strategies
  • Contribute to project work and support in the delivery of initiatives
  • Technical knowledge that allows the nature and impact of technology change and operations on effectiveness to be assessed for potential impacts on bank managed IT systems
  • Sound understanding of risk management, controls and standard operating procedures
  • Strong knowledge of policies, regulations and obligations within the context of technology and the business operations that it supports.
