The Role

We’re offering an opportunity for a Financial Controller to join our Finance Team at our Bath office. In this role, you’ll play a key part in leading our transactional finance team, ensuring we have robust financial systems, processes, and controls in place to support our ongoing success.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll be managing a small, close-knit team and working collaboratively with other departments to drive accuracy and efficiency across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the business to establish and sustain an effective financial control environment.
  • Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT regulations, audit requirements, and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Maintain and enhance finance systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the annual audit process, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring timely completion.
  • Review and process monthly e-commerce transactions.
  • Facilitate the provision of financial information and drive process efficiencies.

Team

  • Take overall responsibility for the transactional finance team, including but not limited to, processing month-end journals, overseeing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Manage and develop a team of three, providing mentorship and career development opportunities.
  • Build strong working relationships with the FP&A Lead and broader business teams to support timely and accurate reporting.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the finance function.
  • Support the Finance Director with ad-hoc projects and reporting requests as required.

What We’re Looking For

  • You’re ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or have equivalent experience).
  • You have good leadership and organisational skills with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • You’re an effective communicator, able to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • You have a keen eye for detail and can manage multiple priorities with ease, ensuring high standards of accuracy.
  • You’re comfortable working with finance systems and reporting tools, and you enjoy looking for ways to improve processes.
  • You’re able to work full-time on-site from our offices in central Bath.
