The Director of UK Payroll will oversee all payroll operations to our 30,000 Placemakers within the UK. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies, this role requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in payroll management, a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to drive process improvements and change, with an extensive transformation programme being undertaken.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the UK payroll team to be a high performance service organisation.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing to our Placemakers, together with a service mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with all UK payroll regulations, including tax and employment laws.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies, service levels and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy and address the management of risk within the payroll function.
  • Accountable for driving and achieving targeted SLA’s in Payroll.
  • Collaborate with People & Culture (HR), Finance, IT & Operations to ensure seamless payroll operation and payroll input into non-payroll led transformation projects.
  • Through the UK payroll team, oversee the design, preparation and submission of payroll-related reports and filings both internally and to external agencies.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers and vendors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline payroll operations across the UK.
  • Handle complex payroll issues and provide solutions to resolve them.
  • Ensure that support in place to onboard new contracts (TUPE) into ISS’ UK payroll to ensure timely and correct first time pay.
  • Identifying & communicating any transition issues that will impact new Placemakers.
  • Provide professional guidance to senior business stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and ensure the company’s compliance.
  • Prepare and manage the payroll budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
  • CIPP qualified or similar.
  • Extensive experience in payroll management, in organisations with large transactional volumes.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
