Food Production Technical and Quality Manager – Cheese Wells-Next-The-Sea, England, United Kingdom Mrs Temple\’s Cheese We produce award-winning artisan cheese using the milk of our own Brown Swiss cows. We are passionate about animal welfare and climate-sensitive farming. We use green energy (heat and electricity produced by renewable methods such as biogas and solar power) on-site, producing 30-35 tonnes a year of hard and soft cheese (8000 litres of milk a week). We need someone who loves the product and understands the need to produce it within a regulated environment. Responsibilities Answerable to: Directors Co-ordinate with Colleagues in other sectors of business: Operations Manager, Dairy Manager, Engineers Manage: Assistant Manager (Production) plus other cheesemakers (total 4 WTE) Produce cheese of high quality, handling all aspects of production: handling milk, curds, moulding, pressing, affinage, packaging, despatch, premises and machinery maintenance, and cleaning of the production environment. Lead other workers in achieving expectations laid out in the Specialist Cheesemakers Association Code of Best Practice (We are registered with the Primary Authority) and prepare for the SALSA plus Cheese Standard. Responsible for maintaining health and safety, accident prevention, and accident reporting as required by national legislation. Manage HACCP and subsequent documentation and record-keeping. Be proactive in growing business turnover and maintaining margins through the production of quality cheese to meet demand, minimising waste. Develop partnerships with customers and participate in promotional and marketing activities. Share your knowledge and develop the skills of other staff. May be required to travel to promotional or training events. Qualifications Might suit someone with a background in Food Technology, any biological or chemical science, or Environmental Health. Experience of food safety management systems. Previous experience in science or food production. Housing available to support move to Norfolk. Salary negotiable according to experience.
