Join Barclays as an Azure Principal Engineer where you’ll play a pivotal role in driving the design, deployment, and security of complex cloud-based solutions using Azure technologies. You will act as a technical leader and subject matter expert, guiding teams and ensuring that all systems are scalable, secure, and compliant with industry regulations, especially in a highly regulated banking environment.
To be successful, you should have:
- Expert-level knowledge of Azure Platform and Services including but not limited to Compute, Networking (Firewalls, DNS), Data Integration, GenAI, and Containers.
- Proven experience in designing and engineering complex solutions on Azure, with a deep understanding of the cloud platform's capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver secure and compliant solutions using Azure features in a highly regulated environment, particularly within the banking sector.
Highly valued skills include:
- Scripting experience in Bash, PowerShell, and Python for automating tasks and managing Azure resources.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, with proficiency in BICEP and ARM Templates for deploying and managing Azure resources.
- Azure Certifications such as AZ-305 (Architect), AZ-701 (Network Administrator), and SC-100 (Security Architect) are highly desirable.

Accountabilities:
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
