You will join our creative and innovative team at the IT Innovation Centre working to advance methods, tools and technologies for helping ensure the safety, security and trustworthiness of ICT systems in healthcare, manufacturing, environment sciences and beyond. Your experience of knowledge-based systems engineering will contribute to our research programme pioneering approaches to risk management of socio-technical-physical systems to the EU NEMECYS project. You will work with regulators, industry and citizens to understand future systems and advance modelling and simulation methods and applications. Your work will mainly contribute to a knowledge-based risk analysis tool Spyderisk via extensions to its knowledge base towards risk assessment reporting for connected medical devices and data protection. If you are passionate about knowledge identification, extraction and interpretation, this position will certainly suit you. There is considerable potential for developing your expertise and career, e.g. participation in open source communities, partnerships with public sector (e.g. NHS), academia and industry both in the UK and EU-wide, pursuit of new research directions, projects and publications.

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in computer science or software engineering or related discipline (e.g. physics/maths).
  • Experience of knowledge modelling, representation and publication using semantic technologies.
  • Excellent software programming and engineering practices.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

The following would be advantageous:

  • Knowledge of risk assessment / management (e.g., ISO standards).
