Operational Risk Analyst

Responsibilities

1. Conduct thorough risk assessments across various operational functions, including transaction processing, customer service, and compliance, to identify potential weaknesses or vulnerabilities.
2. Support the development of a comprehensive risk inventory that captures all significant operational risks and aligns with regulatory expectations.
3. Work closely with business units to implement risk controls and ensure that risk exposures are managed within the company\’s risk appetite.
4. Monitor the effectiveness of existing controls, identify areas for improvement, and support process optimization initiatives to reduce risk exposure.
5. Assist in the development and implementation of control measures for new products, services, or processes to ensure risk is adequately managed.
6. Maintain risk metrics, key risk indicators (KRIs), and dashboards to provide real-time monitoring of operational risks.
7. Produce and deliver regular risk reports for senior management, detailing risk exposures, incident analysis and mitigation efforts.
8. Track and document risk issues, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring timely reporting and resolution in line with regulatory requirements.
9. Investigate operational incidents to determine root causes, document findings, and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
10. Conduct post-incident reviews and produce reports with recommendations to prevent future occurrences, ensuring continuous improvement in risk management practices.
11. Collaborate with teams to develop incident response plans and test these plans periodically to ensure the organisation is prepared for potential disruptions.
12. Ensure all risk management activities align with applicable regulations (such as GDPR, PSD2, and FCA or other local requirements) and internal risk policies.
13. Support regular reviews of the operational risk management framework, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
14. Maintain up-to-date documentation on risk policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring they are accessible and understood by relevant stakeholders.
15. Coordinate with Compliance and Internal Audit teams to ensure operational risk practices align with audit standards and regulatory expectations.
16. Track audit findings related to operational risk, supporting the implementation of remediation actions to address identified gaps.
17. Promote a risk-aware culture across the organisation by supporting training initiatives and communicating the importance of operational risk management.
18. Assist in developing educational materials and conducting training sessions on risk awareness, policies, and best practices.
19. Encourage employees to report potential risks and incidents, ensuring an open and transparent approach to risk management.

Requirements

1. 2-4 years of experience in operational risk, risk management, or audit, preferably within a regulated FinTech or financial services environment.
2. Familiarity with risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO 31000) and relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, PSD2).
3. Proficiency in data analysis and risk management software (e.g., GRC platforms) is desirable.
4. Experience with Excel, data visualisation tools, and SQL or other data query languages for analysis is a plus.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret and present complex data.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate risk-related topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
