We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Senior Scientist to contribute intellectually and experimentally to this endeavour. Your Responsibilities
- Contribute intellectually and experimentally to the design and execution of large-scale molecular genetic experiments, including cell model characterisation, assay optimisation, and high-throughput screening.
- Develop, optimise, and implement functional assays to investigate gene function in disease-relevant contexts, with a focus on endothelial and fibroblast biology.
- Work closely with data scientists to develop robust data analysis pipelines.
- Contribute to the biological interpretation of screen hits and drive target validation efforts.
- Stay abreast of new gene-editing technologies and methodologies.
- Support laboratory operations in a start-up environment, contributing to shared responsibilities such as tissue culture maintenance and equipment upkeep.
Professionally, you have
- A PhD with at least 3 years of additional experience in academia, biotech, or pharma.
- Expertise in high-throughput cell assay development, including adherent and suspension cells.
- Strong experience in functional assays related to either endothelial OR fibroblast biology, specifically: Endothelial cell functional assays, including angiogenesis, EndoMT (Endothelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition), and tube formation assays; Fibroblast functional assays, including extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition and contraction assays.
- Experience leading the day-to-day operations of large-scale genetic or chemical screens in arrayed and/or pooled formats.
- At least two years of hands-on experience applying the latest CRISPR/Cas genome-editing approaches, including nucleofection and/or lentiviral transductions.
- Proven ability to deliver results within tight timelines.
Desirable:
- Experience with liquid handling, automation, FACS, and/or automated high-content microscopy.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams, particularly with computational scientists.
- Broad expertise in molecular biology, including molecular cloning.
