Main Responsibilities
- Dual-Sector Strategy Development: Designing and implementing trade marketing strategies for both retail (focusing on independent retailers, convenience stores, and hybrid B2B/B2C models) and catering (targeting pubs, restaurants, hotels, and event planners). Aligning campaigns with the unique needs of each sector, such as seasonal promotions for retail and menu-driven solutions for catering. Collaborating with Sales, Product, and Operations to ensure seamless and effective execution across both sectors.
- Customer Segmentation & Insight: Deepening the understanding of customer behaviours across retail and catering, leveraging CRM data and market research. Developing tailored, segment-specific loyalty programs, such as rewards for high-frequency caterers and volume discounts for retailers. Monitoring competitor activity and market trends to proactively adapt strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- Omnichannel Campaign Execution: Leading trade promotions, POS materials, and digital campaigns (email, social media, e-commerce) designed specifically for retail and catering audiences. Partnering with the Digital Team to enhance B2B platforms, including click-and-collect for retailers and bulk ordering tools for caterers. Ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints while adapting messaging to address sector-specific challenges (e.g., cost efficiency for caterers, foot traffic for retailers).
- Brand & Campaign Management: Guaranteeing brand consistency across all marketing materials while tailoring messaging to the specific needs of each sector. Developing and executing trade promotions, loyalty programs, and seasonal campaigns to drive footfall and increase sales.
- Catering Division Growth: Leading initiatives to capitalize on the growing catering sector and drive expansion. Building and nurturing relationships with catering associations and industry influencers to elevate the brand's authority and presence in the market.
- Budget & Performance: Managing a multi-million-pound budget and optimizing spend across all marketing channels. Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales growth, customer acquisition, campaign ROI, and market share. Reporting performance results to senior leadership, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
You will need:
- Commercial and strategic business acumen to identify opportunities and risks across our Marketing and Digital offering, creating a coordinated strategic approach that delivers competitive advantage for Booker.
- Designing marketing strategies across multiple propositions.
- Customer understanding and empathy to build and coordinate the communication of our propositions that ties our different channels together for customers.
- Marketing campaign development to deliver compelling customer-focused campaigns across different media channels.
- Digital communication skills to ensure that our communications strategy uses, and keeps pace with digital media.
- Ability to develop a company narrative to build a coherent and compelling overall comms strategy across all channels and stakeholders.
