ArcadeX Bars Operations Manager

Location: Battersea Power Station

Reports to: Venue Area Manager

Dates: May – September, 48hours/week

Rate: £21.50/hour plus holiday pay

A new opportunity has arisen to join our Peppermint Summer Events Team as General Manager at a vibrant establishment at Battersea Power Station, ArcadeX. You will be responsible for delivering outstanding beverage experiences, overseeing all aspects of operations, including managing day-to-day activities, leading staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining financial control.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record as a General Manager from a similar events background, strong leadership abilities, a keen eye for detail, and extensive experience in managing bar operations effectively. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the success of a 2nd year at one of London\’s premier locations.

Key Accountabilities:

Venue Operations

o Manage the build and load in alongside the Project Manager.

o Create project timelines and production schedules to ensure a smooth set up of all bar areas.

o Working with the Peppermint Production Manager on build and install of new bars including draught equipment, bar infrastructure, tills etc

o Set up all bars to create a steady workflow, for seamless service

o Oversee the overall daily operations of the venue, ensuring seamless service during events and regular operations.

o Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and consistency of presentation throughout the venue.

o Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and licensing

o Oversee the planning and execution of events at the venue, ensuring client needs are met and events run smoothly.

o Ensure that the venue’s event spaces are set up according to client specifications, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during events.

o Act as the main point of contact for clients on event day, ensuring exceptional service and guest satisfaction.

  • Work collaboratively with the Arcade team to ensure operations are running smoothly and in sync with one another including deliveries and load in schedules.
  • Ensuring on site budget targets are being met (staffing, stock & fixed costs)
  • Drive the implementation of new and innovative strategies and will ensure a positive experience for all guests and increase SPH.
  • To ensure that company & venue policies are being upheld.
  • Lead weekly update meetings with Peppermint’s Senior Venue team
  • To control the financial performance of the business, seeking to exceed targets and margins set.

Staffing:

  • Recruit staff and implement procedures with support from the staffing team
  • Create staff rotas and liase with staffing agencies, keeping staff levels in line with budgets and utilising more staff at peak hours.
  • Develop the team to be the best that they can be. Promote from within and build a team spirit to create a happy working environment with a focus on hiring directly.
  • Ensure all staff are fully trained excellent customer service.
  • Establish and maintain a high standard of staff performance.

Stock

  • Onsite contact for sponsorship agent.
  • Manage and oversee all stock management in the venue ensuring suitable stock levels for events, post event counts and reporting
  • Ensure all stock is organised and stored in the correct places
  • Complete regular stock takes to ensure correct inventory levels across site

Internal/External Communication

  • Lead weekly update meetings with the Arcade event team.
  • Regular feedback/event reports to Peppermint Directors.
  • Ensure the operations team hold daily shift briefings to keep everyone informed.
  • Regularly meet with the Dreamland team to communicate changes, events and improvements.
  • Ensures that Client, company and statutory food & hygiene, H&S standards are maintained
  • Ensure that all venue suppliers and technology, inclusive but not limited to staffing agencies, wholesalers and EPOS are working correctly and communicate any problems to Peppermint head office.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years professional experience either in venues or events
  • Budget and HR management experience
  • Comfortable with excel
  • Creating drinks menus, training and concepts
  • Extensive knowledge of restaurant/bar operations
  • Staff and rota management
  • Sounds understanding of EPOS systems
  • Stock management
  • Extensive knowledge of compliance
