About the store
Specsavers in Tunbridge Wells first opened its doors in 1995. The store sits in a prominent position directly opposite the main shopping centre and is firmly embedded within the local community. The store’s refit in 2017 allows for 5 optical test rooms; fully equipped with the latest clinical technology (including OCT) – meaning you will have everything you need to perform sight tests to the highest possible standards.
A team of 42 dedicated and passionate colleagues call this store home. The existing Partners are really passionate about the clinical development of the team, and as the new Optometry Director you would have the scope to advise on training requirements, introduce new specialisms and build/shape the team further as required. There is also an operations manager who looks after performance reporting, a lab on site which glazes for 4 stores and the call centre handles around 400 calls per day.

The store is located in the beautiful town of Tunbridge Wells, known for its historic spring and elegant covered walkway of the Pantiles. Home to a variety of independent shops, art galleries and open-air cafes, restaurants and bars. Royal Tunbridge Wells lies in the heart of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and in easy reach of picturesque towns and villages such as Matfield and Southborough. The store is also only 35 to 40 minutes from seaside towns such as Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton. There are excellent transport links; 40 minutes to London by train and the train station is within walking distance of the store. The M25 is only 20 minutes away.
Requirements of the role
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist with the drive, passion and willingness to maintain the customer-focused culture and the high standards of this successful store. As the new Optometry Partner, you’ll be able to provide a unique blend of customer care and professional excellence. You’ll be able to build a rapport with the existing team, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and possess an ability to build strong relationships within the local community.
