As a Sr Manager - Indirect Tax Europe & Africa, you will play a key role in providing expert operational and compliance tax advice, ensuring alignment with both business objectives and evolving tax regulations. You will anticipate business needs, navigate external tax requirements, and develop innovative solutions to optimize Herbalife's tax position. In this role, you will establish strong partnerships with local and regional management teams, facilitating seamless business information exchange and driving tax efficiencies.
Your focus will be on tax planning, compliance, and advisory support for all non-income (indirect) tax matters across the E&A region, ensuring adherence to US GAAP, local statutory accounting, and tax regulations. Additionally, you will be instrumental in enhancing the visibility and strategic impact of the Tax function within the business, contributing to its evolution in support of the company's next phase of growth.
This is an expert-level position with no direct reports within the organization, but you will work cross-functionally to support and develop the Tax function in line with the company's growth strategy.
In this role, you will:
- Review and analyze complex business transactions, identifying tax-sensitive issues and providing clear, well-documented recommendations.
- Lead and support tax-related projects, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and business needs.
- Manage and advise on significant non-income tax audits, including negotiations with tax authorities.
- Monitor and interpret tax law changes, assessing their impact and communicating findings to stakeholders.
- Oversee tax compliance and risk management processes, ensuring adherence across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide strategic tax guidance on cross-border transactions, VAT, customs duties, and indirect tax developments including new taxes (sugar tax, plastic tax,...).
- Collaborate with internal teams to drive automation and digitalization of tax compliance processes.
- Work with the technical in-house team (IT) and global software vendors to meet the deadlines for all the tax digitalization projects in the region (e-invoicing, SAF-T,..).
- Support financial reporting from a tax perspective, ensuring accuracy and regulatory alignment.
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities.
- Mentor and support Controllership and Shared Service Center (Global Business Services) teams handling routine tax compliance matters.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- Experience: 10+ years finance/controllership/tax background; 5+ years Big 4 experience (Tax); 5+ years in a major corporation (MNC), US/Europe preferred (Tax); 5+ years indirect tax experience.
- Education: Degree holder in Finance/Accounting/Business disciplines; BA/BS in finance/accounting or closely related field; Graduate level degree in Tax/Finance; CPA/ACA/CTA or regional equivalent.
- Skills: Strong tax and accounting expertise with excellent analytical skills; Effective communicator, able to engage senior stakeholders across divisions; Strong project management abilities and a results-oriented mindset; Proactive self-starter with a hands-on approach and eagerness for continuous development; Quick learner with the ability to mentor colleagues and take on extended responsibilities; Skilled at simplifying complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
