About the role

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on the effectiveness and integrity of our organisation? As a Senior Auditor at NFU Mutual, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our processes, risks, and controls align with our strategic goals and standards. Reporting to the Audit Manager, you'll lead high-impact audits and reviews, shaping the way we manage risk and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing risks: Analyse and prioritise financial and operational risks to contribute to the annual audit plan.
  • Planning and conducting audits: Scope, execute, and report on audits to deliver actionable insights.
  • Evaluating controls: Identify deficiencies and recommend improvements to strengthen risk management frameworks.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build trusted relationships with key business leaders to promote a robust control environment.
  • Action tracking: Monitor and verify that agreed audit actions are completed to the highest standard.

You'll also have the opportunity to conduct research, enhance your understanding of diverse business areas, and deliver bespoke projects that drive operational excellence.

Technical competencies:

  • Proven experience in risk assessment, control evaluation, and audit execution within insurance or financial services or a large corporate environment.
  • Proficiency in analytical audit techniques and data analysis.
  • Ability to draft high-quality audit reports tailored to various audiences.
  • Strong understanding of international standards and benchmarks governing internal audit practices.

Non-technical skills:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Effective project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA) or equivalent (e.g., ACA, CIMA, ACCA, ISACA certification).

Desirable:

  • Experience in project assurance or a relevant professional background in risk management and compliance.
