Job Overview
We are looking to appoint a Solicitor or Fellow of CILEX to join the Legal Services team in Burnley.
Responsibilities
As a lawyer within the Litigation and Regulation team, you will manage a varied and interesting caseload of both criminal and civil regulatory matters. This will include:
- Giving advice to the Council on licensing, planning, environmental health, and housing.
- Representing the Council in the Magistrates’ Court and County Court.
- Providing advice to elected members in committee.
Qualifications
You will have:
- At least 2 years’ experience of working in a legal environment in a fee-earning capacity.
- Advocacy experience in the Magistrates’ Court.
- Experience in three of the following areas of law: civil litigation, criminal law, licensing, highways, planning, information law, and housing.
Skills
You will possess excellent communication skills and:
- Have the ability to draft legal proceedings and statutory notices.
- Manage a range of complex and competing priorities and deadlines.
- Be an effective team member who can work without supervision.
- Manage a diverse workload.
