Trust Tax Director

Large independent firm seeks a Trust Tax Director to head a trust team across the South West. This is an exciting opportunity to live in a beautiful part of the world as the offices you could be based from include Poole, Salisbury, Exeter, and Truro.

Responsibilities

1. Ensuring the work of the Trust team is compliant with legislative and ethical standards.
2. Assisting the team in solving client issues and ensuring they are delivered to the timescale and budget required.
3. Managing a team of advisors including taking a leading role in their professional development.
4. Liaising with clients including Trustees, Beneficiaries, individuals, and other intermediaries to provide a first-class service to clients.
5. Acting as principal on a portfolio of trust and HNW clients including taking responsibility for reviewing and signing out of advice.
6. Reviewing and advising on trust accounts.
7. Playing an active role in marketing and developing the trust services offering.
8. Working with others to grow the team and our trust business.
9. Helping to upskill and develop colleagues in other departments to ensure we manage risk and help with identifying opportunities for the firm.
10. Meeting with clients to ascertain and advise on their tax planning needs and overseeing the delivery of this work by other team members.
11. Working alongside the Private Client tax partners to identify key opportunities and threats within both the existing client base and externally.
12. Actively seeking opportunities to promote other departments within the firm, and in particular the services of our financial planning colleagues.
13. Playing an active role in ensuring that work is undertaken by the right team members and departmental targets are met.
14. Assisting with the running of a trust corporation.

About You

1. Previous experience in a similar role as either an experienced senior manager looking to take the next step in their career, or a director.
2. ATT or CTA qualified (or equivalent) with up-to-date technical knowledge. The STEP qualification is also desirable.
