We are working with the Tax Dispute Resolution team of one of the country’s leading accountancy firms. They have an award-winning Private Client Tax offering, with a highly respected Tax Investigations specialism. Demand for their expertise continues to grow and the team is keen to make a strategic hire at Manager level.

You will assist HNW clients to resolve complex tax disputes with HMRC. Acting as their trusted adviser you’ll work on enquiries, disclosures, litigation and alternate dispute resolution. Managing a portfolio of clients, you’ll need excellent project management skills, as well as the CTA or HMRC Inspector qualification. A thorough understanding of HMRC’s powers, including enquiries, information requests, assessments/claims, appeals, and penalties is important.

The role would suit a tax investigations Assistant Manager looking to step up to Manager grade, or alternatively a Tax Investigations Manager looking for a new challenge and a supported pathway towards SM grade.

The role will include:

  • Overseeing a portfolio of tax dispute cases.
  • Liaising with tax teams across the office network.
  • Monitoring work-in-progress and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Regularly engaging with clients to keep them updated on project developments.
  • Preparing and presenting detailed client reports.
  • Communicating with HMRC and other third parties regarding cases.
  • Collaborating with senior team members to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members, providing training and guidance.
  • Attending client meetings.
  • Providing proactive client service by addressing inquiries and responding to questions.
  • Contributing to the team's business development efforts through internal and external marketing activities.
  • Helping to drive growth by identifying opportunities and enhancing client relationships.

The role is based in central London but offers homeworking two days a week if one wishes.
