Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) Marketing is dedicated to bringing buyers and sellers together and redefining how American Express is welcomed. GMNS Marketing is responsible for partnering with markets to drive profitable growth, accelerate coverage and enhance the value of Amex acceptance to merchants and Card Members at scale! We focus on enhancing our relationships with millions of merchants of all shapes and sizes, and our geographic purview includes many commerce hubs across the globe including the U.S, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Partner marketing team sits within the Global Merchant Services Marketing Europe organisation and looks after partnership marketing including defining the strategy, planning and delivery of marketing opportunities with key bank partners and payment facilitators across Europe. The team focuses on supporting acquisition, retention and welcome acceptance, as well as increasing perception of coverage at small merchants.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Partner Marketing: Collaborating with strategic payment facilitators and key bank partners across Europe to drive awareness of Amex acceptance to increase coverage growth, and activation on Amex.
  • Project Knight & Armour Marketing: Defining and delivering the marketing strategy to support key bank partners across Europe launching and migrating to the Payment Facilitation model.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Leading, coaching and encouraging a team of 7 colleagues to achieve business objectives.
  • Deepening relationships with strategic partners across Europe to access partner marketing channels and implement successful marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Optimising and implementing the marketing strategy to support the growth of priority partners in line with business objectives.
  • Building and maintaining strong team member relationships with key senior leadership level team members whilst also representing American Express when establishing relationships with external partners.
  • Collaborating with Partner Account Management across Europe as well as local issuing and global marketing teams to align plans and manage their expectations on marketing capabilities and timelines.
  • Managing multiple external partners and agencies to deliver various marketing activity.
  • Working with insights and analytics teams to track investment optimization for partnership marketing.
  • Partner with Compliance, Privacy and GCO to ensure governance, control and compliance in everything the team does.
  • Achieving business objectives in the most efficient way whilst owning significant marketing budgets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of excellent senior leadership level communication (both written and verbal) translating strategic marketing plans backed by data and insights to influence and inspire change management when necessary.
  • Experienced team leader who invests in the development of their colleagues and prioritizes inclusivity and belonging.
  • Positive relationship builder with a broad network of collaborators across functional areas and markets, balancing conflicting priorities and exerting influence to drive decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence external partners as well as develop and grow the Partnership (including strong negotiation skills).
  • A clear showcase of balancing operational and analytical skills with marketing experience and a clear ability to both build a strategy and then execute on it to drive business objectives.
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize, solve problems, manage tight deadlines, and handle changing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in B2B partnerships and or B2B marketing.
