Our client, a highly respected multi-award winning boutique asset manager, is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the Finance team. Our client is seeking a fully qualified Accountant with experience within the Financial Services arena to join a well-established team and take responsibility for all financial control activities across the business.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports.
- Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policy and procedures.
- Analytical review and analysis of financial data and generating monthly trend reports and balance sheet reconciliations ensuring financial statement accuracy and investigating variances.
- Monitor and manage financial risks in-line with compliance and regulations.
- Complete all HMRC filings and returns including corporation taxes and VAT in accordance with tax policy.
- Ad-hoc liaison with group tax team and HMRC on enquiries arising.
- Preparation of formal year-end statutory accounts - coordinating annual external audit activities within the business and liaising with external auditors.
- Oversight of bank reconciliations and maintenance of cash flow forecasts to ensure funds are available to meet obligations.
- Business partnering and working collaboratively on projects.
- Deputise for Head of Finance as appropriate.
- Regulatory reporting, liquidity and capital requirements calculations, analysis, and management under ICARA regime.
Experience & Qualifications
- The ideal profile is a qualified Accountant with strong experience as a Financial Controller, with the ability to work independently and cover many tasks simultaneously.
- Analytical minded and excited by new challenges and creating new processes.
- Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines.
- Experience of working within Financial Services, ideally from within an Asset Manager.
- Experience in team management is desirable.
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a minimum of 5 years post-qualified experience.
