Summary
Building on the foundational work creating a Power Platform Centre of Excellence at UKAEA. Develop applications within the team and provide a consultancy service to help others in the organisation develop and deploy Power Platform applications and workflows. Work closely with Finance, Projects, and Engineering teams to develop Power BI dashboards and integrate and refine sources of data.
Strategy
Draw on own experience and other guidance such as the Power Platform Adoption Framework and the MS Power Platform Centre of Excellence. Assist with requirements capture, prioritisation and development of design blueprints.
Development
Develop Power Apps (canvas/model-driven), Power Automate workflows and Power BI dashboards and reports as required by the Business Systems Team Leader. Utilise existing UKAEA data sources, tools and approaches as well as recommending and adopting other approaches, for example Common Data Service (CDS), power agents, etc. Ensure high quality and resilient data quality. Include appropriate levels of security, privacy and accessibility in applications developed. Follow appropriate systems development lifecycle techniques, including analysis, development and configuration, documentation, testing, implementation, and review.
Support
Provide ongoing third tier application support. Periodically analyse third tier requests, identifying patterns and providing any tools/documents/training to the business teams and service desk to solve these issues.
Administration
Administer the UKAEA Power Platform Admin Centre by working with the Windows Admin Section and agreeing relative responsibilities. Disseminate Power Platform policies and governance processes which balance freedom.
Training
Provide training and awareness activities for citizen developers and stakeholders. Explain the background to Power Platform and what it can and cannot do. Provide hands on training for people in business departments (citizen developers) who wish to develop their own applications. Facilitate handover of commissioned tools and services to suitably trained department personnel.
Champions
Contribute to the user group for Power Platform Champions, to foster support and advice in a wider Power Platform community within UKAEA. Organise talks, drop-in sessions and workshops to raise the skills of citizen developers and share ideas and innovative approaches.
Qualifications Required:
- Microsoft Power Platform certifications (i.e. Fundamentals, Functional Consultant, Developer)
Nice to have's:
- ITIL v3/v4 Foundation level qualification or equivalent
Experience Required:
- Excellent IT skills, preferably a degree qualification in a computing subject (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive experience in the Microsoft Power Platform - MS PowerApps, MS Power Automate and Power BI
- Strong organisational and facilitation skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- The ability to understand complex information and work out requirements
- A methodical and structured approach to projects and application development
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- The ability to work effectively with others at all levels in the organisation
- The ability to work within budget limits
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
