Cobb & Jones are recruiting a Senior Finance Business Partner for a multi-entity division within a wider, much larger Group. A newly created role originating from recent growth and acquisitions, we are seeking an operations-biased background. Suitable environments will include engineering, industrial, construction, manufacturing or distribution/logistics.
Aside from senior stakeholder management experience and an entrepreneurial mindset, we require an individual willing to turn over stones, delve deeply into the operational impact performance and be prepared to influence and challenge where required with the view of strategically growing the business.
The Company: A privately-owned Group, turning over circa £200m, this multi-site, multi-service, multi-contract company has an interesting mix of revenue generating operations and as such, they have performed brilliantly over the last 5-10 years, with further acquisitions on the horizon, the finance team continues to grow which will ensure fitness for future growth.

The Profile:
- Formally Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Prior experience in a Senior Finance Business Partner or FP&A capacity. Will also consider people who have worked in core finance roles across site-based operational companies: manufacturing, distribution, FMCG, waste, logistics, wholesale.
- Can evidence where you have added value - either reducing costs, increasing margins, or improving market share.
- Highly analytical, can use a variety of systems for data manipulation and detailed analysis.
- Ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders outside of finance, must be able to influence at all levels.
- Can evidence prior projects, full design, review and implementation of business models and plans.
Responsibilities:
- Be the key Business Partner to the designated business area & associated teams within the business, providing accurate and timely financial analysis of key commercial and operational activities, providing valued support in decision making.
- Providing commercially sound financial information for continuous operations and ad hoc projects, including cost effectiveness, commercial viability and operational capability.
- Proactively working with operations, their leadership teams and partners to provide financial expertise and support, e.g. effective and regular presentations in meetings, identifying and leading initiatives to improve financial performance.
- Cooperate and work closely with departmental team to assist with deal structures to meet customers' specific requirements, develop new business models to capture new business opportunities.
- Full ownership of the categorised P&Ls for commercial and operational activities, including co-ordination and leading regular finance meetings with departmental directors, with support from the Finance Director.
- Prepare and maintain forecasting, budgets, and target setting.
- Support the finance team with monthly management accounts and the commercial and operational departments with board reporting packs.
- Prepare, develop and maintain of weekly KPI deck and Flash reporting.
- Track targets for commercial and operational activities and provide analysis on variances to targets.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis inclusive of financial modelling & capital investment appraisals to support key business decisions.
- Assist with tenders, annual/ad hoc pricing calculations & contract indexations.
- Support the Commercial Director and Finance Director with any analysis or tasks as requested.
- Review & complete monthly Key Contract reconciliations.
- Review systems and processes within the Commercial, Operational & Finance areas to ensure that the data produced is timely and accurate.
On Offer: £70k - £90k DOE, Bonus remuneration linked to financial performance, 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
