Join to apply for the Shared Lives Respite Carer role at Wirral Council. Shared Lives is a care and support service offering an alternative to supported living or residential care. We support adults to live independently in their community with the support of a family and community network. It can be described as a form of fostering, but for adults. People are matched based on shared interests, lifestyles, and sense of humor.
Shared Lives offers a rewarding and flexible way to support someone in your family home. The individuals we support attend day services, work placements, volunteer activities, or have day support from another carer Monday to Friday. You will be responsible for supporting an individual, carefully matched to your family, with daily living skills on a short-term basis. This role provides respite support for full-time Shared Lives carers and unpaid carers in your own home. The role is very flexible; you would provide respite only when available.
As a Shared Lives carer, you could support individuals with:
- Learning disabilities
- Autism
- Mental health issues
- ABI (Acquired Brain Injury)
- Mum and baby
- Dementia
- Support after living in a Domestic Violence environment
All you need to be a Shared Lives carer is a spare room and an open heart.
