About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team, working on large-scale residential and education projects. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to the design and delivery of innovative, sustainable building services solutions for high-profile developments across London.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of mechanical systems, working closely with other engineering disciplines and the project team to ensure successful project outcomes. You will be responsible for managing projects from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations while delivering quality designs that meet client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design for large residential and education projects.
- Develop detailed designs for mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing (HVAC & P).
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within the building services.
- Produce and review technical specifications, calculations, and drawings in line with project requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, building codes, and sustainability goals.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
- Monitor project progress and manage design changes to meet deadlines and budgets.
- Provide technical expertise during the construction phase, addressing any issues that arise.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, particularly within the building services sector.
- Strong knowledge of building services systems, including HVAC and plumbing design.
- Experience working on large-scale residential and/or education projects is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in industry design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, or similar).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) is preferred but not essential.
