We\’re looking for a proactive, organised, and skilled HR Business Manager to join our People & HR team at Guildhall.
About the Role
As the HR Business Manager, you will be at the heart of our HR operations, ensuring the smooth running of business processes and supporting the senior leadership team across a variety of strategic priorities. From managing HR operational projects to liaising with external and internal stakeholders, you\’ll play a key role in implementing HR strategies, delivering on departmental objectives, and ensuring compliance with corporate processes.
You\’ll oversee and drive projects that impact the entire organisation while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and stakeholder engagement. Your ability to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, and resolve complex issues will be essential in this fast-paced, high-profile role.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Support: Develop and maintain the HR Business Plan and other key strategic documents, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
- Project Management: Lead HR operational projects, ensuring they comply with internal protocols and corporate standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison with senior leadership, advising on HR policies, preparing briefings, and supporting departmental priorities.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Identify and propose opportunities for cross-team working and external partnerships to enhance service delivery.
- Team Management: Lead a team of Business Support Officers and manage key HR operational assignments.
- Confidentiality & Sensitivity: Handle sensitive matters with discretion, including liaising with senior staff regarding formal proceedings.
Who We\’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Experience : Proven experience in a similar role within a local government or commercial HR environment. You’ll be comfortable working in a complex, unionised setting and advising management on HR best practices.
- Skills : Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage a diverse workload under pressure.
- Leadership : Experience managing a team, with the ability to motivate, develop, and support your colleagues.
- Technical Expertise : High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent report-writing abilities. You’ll also be able to develop innovative approaches to HR processes and practices.
- Customer Service Excellence : You’ll need to demonstrate outstanding customer service skills, allowing you to handle sensitive or difficult situations with tact and professionalism.
