Our clients, based in a beautiful off near London Bridge, is looking for a learning and development manager to join their team. Working closely with the L&D Director and L&D Coordinator, the key focus will be on all trainee development including apprentices, graduates and apprentice recruitment, with day-to-day management of all related activity. There will be a requirement to support other areas of Learning & Development as needed.
Main duties/responsibilities of the role will include:
- Manage and lead the apprentice scheme and graduate development, supporting all our UK apprentices, graduates and other trainees
- Work both in a strategic and operational capacity with key stakeholders to board level
- Lead on apprentice recruitment and work with L&D Director and L&D Coordinator and business apprentice leads to forward plan recruitment effectively. Lead key activities such as placing adverts, attending careers fairs, vetting and shortlisting applications, interviewing candidates and making offers
- Manage and maximise the companies apprentice levy funds and utilisation
- Develop and manage relationships with a growing number of training providers including colleges, universities, and other course providers. With the L&D Coordinator, lead social value activity with schools and charitable learning organisations we support
- Manage the relationship with the Technical Apprenticeship Consortium (TAC) as the companies lead representative for meetings and liaison
- Support apprentices to meet 20% off the job learning needs, achieve their qualifications and pass End Point Assessments
- Manage our key professional training schemes. Drive attainment of professional status for all trainees such as graduates and apprentices, including those with the ICE and CIBSE and any others to be developed as part of our routes to chartership initiative
- Lead on existing initiatives such as the annual Apprentice Development Programme
- Promote and manage mentoring for trainees both graduates and apprentices, and work closely with, and develop, mentors
- Work with the L&D Director on high level trainee development programmes
- Lead on all trainee reporting, activity planning and evaluation and support the L&D Director on wider L&D planning, reporting and evaluation
- Design and develop learning initiatives as needed along with relevant learning materials
- Identify ways to further utilise our e-learning platform for trainee development
Experience and Education
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a relevant training or CIPD qualification being advantageous
- At least 5 years experience in a Learning & Development Management role with strong experience of the full L&D life cycle
- Strong experience of managing apprentice and graduate learning activity, with experience of apprentice recruitment a key advantage
- In depth knowledge of the apprenticeships process, and experienced in managing relationships with schools and training providers including colleges and universities
- Design and delivery of learning programmes and courses
- Experience of HR and L&D Management Systems and keen interest in the latest L&D technologies and innovations
