A freelance, inside IR35, opportunity exists for a traditional Clerk of Works on a large civil engineering project. Your meticulous ability to inspect and assess all construction activity, materials and workmanship to ensure and to exceed civil engineering standards, is sought. Your duties will include – Ensuring the works are constructed in accordance with the design and specifications. Proposing solutions and offer advice based on your experience, all within the contract requirements. Communicate effectively between the delivery teams, Consulting Engineers and project Management. Championing the company’s Health and Safety standards Conducting inspections to assess quality and workmanship. Approval of materials and products Checking risk assessments and method statements Attend Progress meeting and report on progress. Maintain accurate quality records. Requirement for this post include – Extensive experience overseeing the quality and workmanship on civil engineering projects which include drainage, reinforced concrete structures and earthworks. Proven experience on large multi-million infrastructure/rail projects is essential. Previous experience in a similar position working for a tier one principal Contractor in the UK. Experienced in working with the delivery team to ensure the required quality is met Preferably a civil/construction qualification The ability to foresee potential issues and to intervene/escalate timeously to avoid delays, reworks and extra costs.
