Due to continuing growth and development of Merlin’s attractions and brands on a global scale, we are looking for a Infrastructure and Cloud Solutions Architect to join our Technology Department on a full time basis. The role will be based at London Bankside office, with a hybrid element for those looking for more flexibility.

Key Accountabilities

  • Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture: Design scalable, secure cloud architectures that meet business needs, ensuring affordability and value. Develop migration strategies for transitioning on-premise systems to the cloud and define Edge computing strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Cloud Governance & Security: Establish cloud governance policies ensuring compliance with security standards. Implement security measures such as IAM, encryption, and data protection, while proactively managing risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, IT, developers) to integrate cloud solutions into operations. Provide guidance on cloud best practices and work with vendors to optimize performance and cost.
  • Performance Optimisation & Cost Efficiency: Continuously optimise cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, while managing cloud usage to reduce unnecessary costs without compromising system performance.
  • Cloud Migration & Innovation: Lead cloud migrations with minimal disruption and explore new technologies to drive innovation and improve system capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience in cloud architecture within a large-scale enterprise environment, with deep expertise in designing and managing cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Proven track record of leading cloud migration projects and implementing cloud-first strategies, ideally within complex organisations.
  • Strong background in infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle Simphony and Opera cloud environments and operating with open API modular architecture.
  • Experience with cloud governance frameworks and security, including compliance with industry regulations and standards like GDPR, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies and experience working within agile project management frameworks (Scrum, Kanban), including CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
