We’re looking for a dedicated School’s Family Support Worker to join our Early Help Service team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide direct support to children, young people, and their families, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in their home and school environments.
The Role: As a School’s Family Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in working with vulnerable families and young people, providing support at an early stage to divert families from higher-level services. Your goal will be to help improve outcomes for children and families, including better school attendance, improved behaviour, and enhanced well-being. You will be the lead professional for families, coordinating support, and empowering them to make positive changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on Complex Cases: Manage cases referred through schools and the Early Help Hub, including those stepped down from social care.
- Support Families: Provide intensive, tailored support to vulnerable children, young people, and their families, helping them develop practical solutions for issues such as attendance, behaviour, and health.
- Facilitate Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with schools, social workers, and other professionals to create and implement Team Around the Family (TAF) plans.
- De-escalation & Support: Use de-escalation techniques to help manage challenging behaviours and promote positive changes within families.
- Safeguarding: Ensure the safety of children and young people by following safeguarding policies and actively engaging in child protection processes.
- Lead Professional Role: Take charge of the coordination of support services for families, reviewing progress and making adjustments as needed.
- Holistic Family Support: Work with families to enhance their parenting strategies, build strong relationships, and promote positive behaviour in both children and adults.
