Overview: Reporting to the Head of Design, the Senior Designer is responsible for the direction and creation of the Adidas Stella McCartney collection for concept to completion. This role will be working closely with all Designers to ensure that the collections focus on sustainable, quality garments. This is a 13-month fixed term contract for a maternity cover. Your Mission: To lead and support the Head of Design across all Adidas SMC collections and working from creative concept to completion. Develop flat sketches and detailed tech packs as well as researching seasonal themes and inspirations, in collaboration with the Head of Design. Stay up to date with current sportswear trends, innovations and technologies as well as go above and beyond to create and source new concepts. Work collaboratively with all key departments, including the Merchandising and Product Development, on new fabric developments, new technical fabrics and fabric selection for the collections. Work with the Head of Design team to implement colour palette seasonally as requested. Create sketching and in some cases cadding designs for hand off to tech design at Adidas for all Adidas Stella McCartney collaborations. Ensure that all sketches are defined and put into development each season. Work closely with the design assistants to ensure they are developed in their role. Participate in the fittings in-house and at the manufacturer. Establish effective constant working relationship with support tech team in Adidas, Germany and fabric, trim and product teams overseas. Strong sketch realisation. Proficient in fittings and confident in following through styles from sketch to production. Communicate daily with cross-functional partners, both internal and global. Support sample management and showroom set-up. Overseeing and supporting the updating of collection, style and mood boards on a regular basis. Handling the development of each garment before handing over to Production, working closely with the Machinists, Pattern Cutters and Garment Techs. Developing and creating new best sellers. Travel when needed to support the business. Your Talent: Experience ideally gained in the luxury design industry. Ability to delegate. Can work effectively on several projects simultaneously. Goal oriented, result driven individual. Commercially minded, quickly responding to business/market needs. Strong team player who is able to work across multiple teams and under pressure. High work ethic, integrity and reliability with a β€œHands on” attitude. Great time management skills. Comfortable working additional hours to perform duties, including weekends and also travel when necessary. Impeccable presentation and communication skills, both verbally and written. Must have strong computer skills, including excel and power point. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Creative thinker, with the ability to think outside the box and an eye for detail.
