This Project Delivery role is an exciting opportunity to join our Collections Care team and learn how to carry out a range of core museum tasks in a national museum. Project Delivery Assistants are responsible for the accurate location and movement of objects using barcode technology. The team handles, moves and documents the vast range of objects IWM cares for. In this fixed-term role, you will contribute to projects that increase access to and use of the collections, and ensure they are cared for to a high standard. The work will include basic documentation, labelling, marking, packing and preparing collections for digitisation or for movement to storage locations.
Please note that this role is a fixed-term contract (23 months) and based full-time on-site at IWM London, so it is not possible to work from home. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to taking up the position.
Key Duties:- Moving items to/from storage, the IWM Research Room, and between branches as per schedules, including licensed and hazardous objects.
- Conducting object inventory, basic documentation and exit processes.
- Processing access digitisation orders.
- Supporting exhibition installations and decants at all IWM branches.
- Reorganising of storage areas, including undertaking packing projects.
- Contributing to the housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance of collection items and storage areas.
- Basic condition checking of collections.
