The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.

What you’ll be doing: You will be involved in the design and production of the 3D model of the whole boat primary structure which includes the shell plate / stiffening, all steelwork decks, bulkheads, and compartmentation as well as major castings, seating and mounting arrangements, penetrations, component parts & production aids. You will use your design knowledge in related systems and processes to solve design problems using well-proven analytical techniques, while also ensuring the work being carried out by other members of the team is to standard. You will also diagnose and resolve complex specialist operational, repair, installation and commissioning problems and issues and share best practice throughout the team to ensure quality and standard.
Your skills and experiences: Previous experience within a design role with a background from a high hazard industry such as Civil, Structures, Marine, Oil & Gas. Ability to use CAD Packages, particularly FORAN, NX and/or Solidworks. Specialists in techniques, processes and tools for large scale detailed designs of platforms, assemblies, systems and equipment installation.

The Hull & Outfit team: The Hull & Outfit Design teams are organised and specialised teams. As a Principal Designer, you will report to a Project Leader. You will be surrounded by other Principal Designers, Assistant Project Leaders and Project Leaders to ensure you are supported and set up for success in your new role with us. The team will consist of Designers of various abilities and capabilities. The specialised teams within the overall design team include but are not limited to: Seating, Penetrations, Eye plates, Primary Structure, Hull Mechanics. Career progression from this role could be Lead Designer or Assistant Project Leader to Project Leader. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
