Job Purpose:
TMHCC is in the midst of an IT transformation and is shifting towards a Product-centric operating model. You will be managed by the Data Operations Development Manager, (a component service provided to the TMHCC business). As a Senior Developer with experience of Agile and DevOps working, you will participate in the development team. You will analyse, develop, troubleshoot, design, assemble and solutionise a range of solutions that deliver value to the business, through the production software releases and required artefacts. As part of the practice, you will contribute to and be guided by collective Data Operations knowledge, methods, tools, standards, and good practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to develop high class solutions and changes to the core Data Warehouse.
- Utilising best practice throughout the SDLC process to ensure that change is managed end to end in the warehouse and is right first time and delivers quality solutions.
- Use the components of the Data Warehouse and your skills to design and construct change that enhances the data and the level of richness of data being used by the business and the team.
- Build, enhance, develop solutions that keep the estate and data in top form.
- Build, update, and maintain technical documentation for software-based projects and products.
- Maintain, evolve, tune, troubleshoot and develop releases and hot fixes in the Warehouse estate in response to identified change and issues.
- Interact effectively with business partners to understand business requirements and translate them into fit for purpose code and solutions.
- Assist in the implementation of change in conjunction with the main technologies deployed in the Warehouse.
- Participate in architecture, technical design, and product implementation discussions.
- Collaborate with team members to solve problems.
- Work with the Data Operations Development Manager, Product delivery managers, other engineers, analysts, and architects to build, implement and support the Data Operations that underpins our insurance products.
- Analyse and interpret user requirements (e.g. user journeys), and provide feedback on constraints and improvements to user experience, and helping to develop them.
- Resolve Data Operations service defects and incidents, and perform root-cause analysis of problems.
- Work with DevOps Engineers and others to improve Data Operations engineering tooling and the efficiency and automation of testing and deployment.
- Participate in and contribute to Agile meetings throughout each development cycle.
- Create and maintain technical specifications and documentation for reference and reporting.
- Conduct ‘show-and-tells’ with the Data Operations team and with end-users to demonstrate product and feature changes and improvements and capture feedback.
- Provide support for Data Operations solutions as per agreed service management processes.

Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in data warehousing. Encompassing physical modelling, as well as ETL, ELT, CDC, semantic layers, rules engines, reconciliation principles.
- Strong SQL knowledge.
- Python, Terraform, Snowflake, AWS skills.
- Monitoring, automated test capabilities and reporting design, dashboarding and data feeds.
- Critical thinker, being proactive in your approach.
Desirable:
- Insurance industry knowledge.
- London market insurance.
- Knowledge and experience in Data Vault 2.0.
- Chartered Institute of Insurance: Certificates, Diploma.
- Lloyd’s: LLMIT.
