Role

As a Validation & Verification Engineer, you ensure that products meet user requirements, safety standards, and function correctly in their intended environment. You act as an independent checker, analyzing and testing systems to confirm they align with design goals and compliance standards (e.g., Safety Integrity Levels/SIL). You collaborate with teams to plan validation activities, document results, and recommend whether a product is ready for release.

Responsibilities

  • Plan & Execute Validation: Create validation plans, define tasks, and agree on scope with stakeholders. Conduct tests and analyses to confirm systems meet requirements.
  • Review & Compliance: Check system requirements against real-world use and safety standards. Ensure testing processes are thorough, consistent, and compliant. Verify traceability between requirements, design, and test results.
  • Risk & Reporting: Identify and classify deviations/risks, escalating critical issues. Prepare validation reports and approve/reject product releases. Review hazard logs and ensure safety risks are resolved.
  • Collaboration: Work independently or with other validators for critical checks (e.g., SIL > Basic Integrity). Coordinate validation efforts across international teams if required.

Experience Needed

  • Technical Skills: Experience in system validation/testing, including planning and documentation. ETCS or rolling stock experience is essential. Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., SIL, CENELEC) and risk management. Familiarity with traceability matrices and validation tools (e.g., hazard logs).
  • Process Expertise: Ability to audit development processes and ensure compliance. Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
