The Cook is responsible for planning and preparing a variety of nutritious meals that reflect the needs and preferences of the people supported. Meals should be well-balanced, attractively presented, and made using fresh ingredients wherever possible.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing meals that cater for a range of dietary requirements
• Managing food stocks and placing orders as needed
• Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen
• Supporting service users who wish to take part in food preparation
• Baking for special occasions and joining in with themed events
• Working in line with food hygiene and health and safety standards
• Being part of the daily life of the service, not just the kitchen

This is a practical, hands-on role that offers variety, connection and the opportunity to brighten someone’s day through food.

What is needed:

• Previous experience in catering
• A food hygiene certificate (or willingness to work towards one)
• A calm, reliable and flexible approach to working in a busy environment
• An understanding of health and safety in a kitchen setting
• A respectful attitude towards the Christian ethos of the organisation
