SEND Teaching Assistant

About the role:

Connex Education are working with a SEND School in Wirral who cater for pupils with Autism and PMLD. They are looking for a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team in the new academic year (September 2025) in the PMLD pathway.

About the School:

This fantastic SEND School has 2 sites across Wirral and they cater for pupils aged 11-19 years. This role will consist of working in the PMLD pathway. This fantastic purpose-built SEND School offers a high-quality education in a stimulating and engaging learning environment. The staff at the school are supportive, nurturing and encourage pupils to develop into successful adults.

Assignment details:

This role is full-time and will commence in September, there is an opportunity to work at the School on a day-to-day basis for the next half term, to get to know staff and pupils. The hours are Monday-Friday 8.30am until 3.30pm. This is a temp-to-perm contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping pupils with Special Educational Needs.

Person specification:

• Experience of supporting pupils with PMLD.
• Be able to provide personal care.
• Peg-feeding and hoist training is desirable but not essential.
• Be understanding and empathetic with the ability to help children self-regulate.
• Able to adapt communication styles depending on the pupil.
• Be engaging and provide pupils with a child-centered approach.
• Able to provide a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
