Job Title: Financial Controller

Brief Outline:
A dynamic award-winning Agency is now looking to appoint a Financial Controller . This is a newly created role due to internal reorganisation and relocation of the finance team to London.
The role is an integral part of the business covering all aspects of financial and management accounting, as well as financial control of the business operations. The role will include responsibility for the financial reporting of the London studio and will involve liaising with Senior Finance Managers of the group operations based in New York and Singapore and consolidation of results for the business.
The Role in More Detail:
- Control and management of all aspects of the company’s finances.
- Prepare month-end management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet, cashflow, client and job profitability, time utilisation, and recoverability analyses.
- Preparation of year-end accounts including all schedules necessary for audit purposes. Liaison with the auditors.
- Preparation of the first draft of the annual budget including year-on-year analyses.
- Full understanding of the status on all client jobs and proactively acting to ensure all jobs are controlled and no unnecessary cost write-offs are incurred.
- Preparation of job profitability analyses and liaison with account managers to understand variances from expectations, assisting the account managers with the commercial and financial aspects of their jobs and client relationships.
- Intercompany billing and reconciliation of intercompany balances.
- Ownership of the accuracy of the Income Forecasting.
- Monitoring of the cash balances and regular cash flow forecasting.
- Continually reviewing and improving the quality and output of financial reporting across the group.
- Systems and process improvements & implementation that will lead to greater efficiency.
- Strong IT skills – especially more advanced functions of Excel – would be a real advantage.
- Responsible for two finance team members, ensuring the quality of their output and their continued skills development within the team.
- Able to provide sound commercial advice to the Directors in the absence of the Global CFO.
What We’re Looking For in the Financial Controller:
- A sound understanding of the deliverables of a finance function, able to lead a team in a busy Agency environment, have great attention to detail, and understand that the quality and accuracy of work underpins good financial reporting across the company.
- You’ll be an experienced Finance Manager looking to grow into the FC role, currently studying ACCA or CIMA or recently qualified, able to work to tight deadlines, technologically savvy, and willing to embrace new technologies and processes.
- Experience with the Paprika accounting system would be ideal.
- You will have worked in an Agency environment, with a good understanding of Agency financial reporting.
- Strong IT skills – especially more advanced functions of Excel – would be a real advantage.
