Want to help support disadvantaged parents – because where parents thrive, children thrive? The Parent House Trust is a small charity providing support for parents and thus to children too, in Islington, an area of high deprivation. Our work is almost unique in using a collaborative and peer-led approach to train parents to support their families and their peers, fostering local support networks and enhancing access to services. By empowering parents, we strengthen families and build a more resilient community. The Role As Treasurer, you will play a key role in overseeing our financial health and ensuring we are well-positioned to continue our work. You will work with the other 6 dedicated and friendly trustees to ensure that the charity complies with its governing document, charity law and all other relevant legislation. We need your financial expertise to help us develop and implement a sustainable funding strategy and keep on the straight and narrow. What we need We seek a Treasurer with the following skills and expertise: A relevant accounting qualification. Experience of charity accounting and relevant accounting standards. Collaborative spirit: strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to working closely with others to reach a common goal. Accountability and integrity: a commitment to honest, transparent and ethical financial management and reporting Commitment to our values: kindness, inclusiveness, respect and responsibility, in helping disadvantaged parents to overcome barriers, thrive and create positive futures for themselves and their families. What the role involves Attendance at up to 8 board meetings per annum, early evening and in person where possible, and up to 8 finance sub-committee meetings, which may be remote. (We anticipate these numbers will reduce.) Meetings are held school term-time only. Working with the charity director and book-keeper to approve budgets, accounts and financial statements and ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
