Jones Bros Civil Engineering is seeking a Sub Agent to join our growing team in Scotland. Reporting to the Project and Contract Managers, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of our infrastructure projects supporting daily site operations, maintaining compliance, and driving high standards across safety, quality, and performance.
The Sub-Agent at Jones Bros is an evolving role, aimed at cultivating individuals into becoming proficient Site Agents. You will be expected to travel regularly across Scotland, with overnight stays required on occasions depending on the project location. Flexibility and a willingness to be where the work is happening are essential. In return, you will play a leading role in high-impact civil engineering schemes and gain exposure to varied and rewarding challenges.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the Project and Contract Managers in overseeing day-to-day civil engineering activities.
- Act as the on-site technical advisor, resolving engineering challenges and supporting delivery.
- Work closely with the Works Manager to plan and manage the safe and efficient mobilisation of plant, labour, and materials.
- Prepare, review and update Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for site works.
- Monitor and report on work progress, ensuring alignment with budgets and programme timelines.
- Carry out site surveys and oversee accurate setting out and measurements.
- Maintain clear site documentation and support ongoing compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
- Previous experience in a Site Engineer, Senior Engineer, or similar role within the civil engineering industry.
- Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Commercially aware with the ability to monitor budgets, forecasts, and subcontractor performance.
- Confident communicator and team leader with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with digital site management tools.
- Able to travel and work across Scotland, with overnight stays when required.
- Full UK driving licence.
