We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Architect to join our Architecture team, as part of the current transformation programme. The successful candidate will design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures.
As Azure Cloud Architect you will typically operate within structured Ways of Working and utilise methodologies such as TOGAF and Agile to ensure efficient cloud solution design, governance, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable Azure cloud solutions.
- Develop cloud architecture strategies alongside the enterprise Architects, focusing on high availability, disaster recovery, security, and cost optimisation.
- Lead migration projects from on-premise to Azure, ensuring minimal disruption and high-quality delivery.
- Provide guidance on cloud best practices, governance, and Well Architected standards.
- Collaborate with teams and other 3rd parties to ensure applications and services are designed for the cloud and optimised for performance.
- Define and document cloud architecture frameworks and guidelines.
- Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies, tools, and services.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior cloud engineers.
- Assist in performing troubleshooting, guidance in performance tuning, ensuring the what is delivered meets the standards set in the solution for Azure environments.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Recent experience of working in a bank.
- Recent experience of working on large scale technology transformation programme.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Compute, Networking, Storage, and Security.
- Strong experience in designing and managing scalable cloud environments and migrations.
- Expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools like Azure CLI, Terraform etc.
- Clear understanding of Resilience, Reliability, Scalability, Observability, Manageability and Performance.
- Integration expertise utilising API Gateway, and data transfer methodologies.
- Experience in Azure Data Lake architectures and Analytics.
- Clear understanding of disaster recovery and site resilience and methods that incorporate data recovery site to site.
- Knowledge of cloud Well Architected Framework and security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and threat detection.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are preferred.
