Position: Critical Electrical Engineer (Data Centre M&E)
Location: Essex
Salary: £50,000
Shift Pattern: Continental Shift (4 days on, 6 off, 4 nights, 4 off, 3 days, 3 nights, 4 off, rotating every 28 days)

Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and skilled Critical Electrical Engineer to join a state-of-the-art Data Centre in Essex. This role, within a specialist team, offers a modern and clean working environment, with extensive training and opportunities for career progression. You’ll be directly supporting a leading Data Hosting Company, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of critical systems within the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and power distribution units.
2. Conduct HV shutdowns and respond to electrical faults, troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions promptly to minimize downtime.
3. Collaborate with other technical teams to ensure 24/7 operational uptime for the Data Centre.
4. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
5. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
6. Participate in shift-based operations to support the round-the-clock performance of the site.

Requirements:

1. City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Qualification
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in building services (preferably in critical environments such as Data Centres or banking facilities)
3. Strong electrical systems knowledge, with hands-on experience in high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems
4. Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to work as part of a team
5. A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintenance
